In addition to being a licensed psychotherapist (LCSW), I am a registered play therapist and a certified sandplay therapist. I am trained in DBT and attachment-based approaches, and am also certified in EMDR therapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy and Past Life Soul Regression Therapy. I am also trained in providing guided meditation and visualization techniques, and am a Reiki Master as well, so you can be assured my office is at all times energetically cleared and protected.
I graduated with a BA in cultural anthropology from UMass Amherst, and after working as a case manager with clients struggling with severe mental health challenges, I realized how much I love to be a part of others' healing processes, so in 2004 I earned a MA in social work from New Mexico Highlands University. In 2006, I decided to join the Peace Corps and served in a township in South Africa, where I worked at a center for children orphaned by AIDS. This experience profoundly changed my life in both challenging and wonderful ways.
From 2008 till the present, I have followed my calling working with children and adults in both community mental health settings and now in my private practice, which has been open since 2016. I love supporting people in creative ways, using awesome and effective modalities like EMDR, Sandtray Therapy, guided meditations, Play Therapy, Hypnotherapy and Past Life Soul Regression. Using a combination of directive and non-directive work, I specialize in trauma therapy, which can be useful for clearing and healing many negative experiences and memories that seem like they've been stuck forever. One of my favorite things as a therapist is witnessing a client processing those painful memories and watching their level of distress go way down; it is a moving experience for both of us!
When not in my office, my hobbies include traveling, hiking, writing, reading fiction, attending trainings, meditating, dancing, yoga, photographing, silversmithing, walking my dog, Simon, and spending time with my partner.
